I first came during their opening kick off last year and loved the vibe, setting and of course the beer. It was a great time with live music and great food for happy hour. They were serving up tacos and everything was a bit discounted since it was the opening. Flash forward to tonight when j went here with the YNPN board after our meeting and the vibe was just as good. I got the blueberry wheat beer which was light, not hoppy, about 5.4% and not sweet. The hint of blueberry at the back of your tongue is perfect. I could drink this all day during the summer. For food i got the burger with tzaziki sauce, onion, tomatoes and fresh veggies on the side. You get your choice of fresh veggies, fries, tator tots or chips. The burger was good though I would have like mine medium (it was well done). The meat was still juicy though which was great and the flavored were perfect. Service was fast and pleasant, and I can't wait to go back again.

Not much of a beer girl...but couldn't bear the thought of missing out on the first UYE of 2015 courtesy of John O. Tucked away in an industrial area, Urban Growler is pretty indistinguishable from all the other million and one microbreweries that have cropped up in the metro area recently. I do, however, appreciate that it lacked that funky wet hay smell -- I am sure this is part of the natural brewing process and may sometimes be present at Urban Growler but I find it off-putting and was glad it was not lingering on Sunday night. The Cranberry beer was recommended to me as an option that wasn't too beer-y. And it was actually tolerable and even potentially pleasant - sweet and tart without any of that bitter hoppy aftertaste. Unlike some of their competitors, Urban Growler offers a brief food menu including sandwiches and small bites. Cindy D. offered me half of her Cubano. Considering this is a meat-heavy sandwich (something I don't often opt for), it was actually easy to consume -- light with lots of flavor (the meat was well-balanced with the other ingredients) and at peak panini texture (fresh pressed bread, varied cuts of meat, and diced pickles). To top off the experience, a great little folk band was situated in the corner playing away at an appropriate volume as not to hinder conversation. Again, I'm no beer connoisseur. As such, I expect my criteria for evaluating a microbrewery to be considerably different from those more knowledgeable and passionate about this subject matter. So, definitely take my words on Urban Growler with a grain of salt!

We've been here twice, once just adults and most recently with our two young kids along for lunch on a Sunday. Both times the beer and food have been excellent - a solid lineup of regulars, and the rotating taps have been adventurous without being crazy. Always delicious. With the recently updated menu, Urban Growler has really upped their game -- the kids menu was perfect, the grownups were all super pleased with the selection available (burgers can be made with big portabello mushrooms for no extra charge!), and everything was delicious. I'm sure there's some licensing reason they can't call themselves a brewpub, but this is the real deal: fun space, great beers, and solid eats. Get yourself to Urban Growler!

I love this place! My girlfriend and I discovered this place back in March. The beer is exceptional and the staff outstanding! We have been to many taprooms in the Twin Cities and became regulars at The Urban Growler. We did consider it our secret but it has now exploded with customers. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Really nice place and great staff. The beer just keeps on getting better and better. Enjoyed a quick sample before sneaking a Candy Corn Imperial Growler. Thanks for making the stop memorable and enjoyable.

If I lived in Saint Paul, I'm pretty certain I would be a regular at Urban Growler. Sadly, all I have are memories from my vacation earlier this summer. I liked the space. Nice bar with table seating both inside and out. It wasn't too crowded when we were there, but I can see the place filling up quickly. So the outdoor seating is a good idea. It's a chill atmosphere. I saw signs for specials (both food and drink) as well as events held at the brewery. I also like when a place like this doesn't have TVs to distract from what's important here: beer and company. They have food available that's not bad, I think we got nachos and spinach dip just to munch on. But mostly I enjoyed the beer flight. The beers were good. I enjoyed the City Day Ale (described as a "Kentucky Common Beer") and the De-Lovely Porter. The biggest surprise of all was the Cowbell Cream Ale that was by far my favorite. I never thought I'd like a cream ale but I loved this one so much I bought a t-shirt for it. It's great to see a women-owned and brewed business that uses local ingredients. It is easy to understand why Urban Growler came so highly recommended. I'd like to give 4.5 stars.

Another stop on the beer crawl in the Twin Cities. Let me know what you think - I just didn't love the beers. I liked the flight tray (see photo), the openness of the space, the friendly brewers. It's a nice place to visit. The beers just weren't for me - I thought they all tasted somewhat similar, and they didn't have a hoppy beer like I was in the mood for. They had some lagers, Kolsch-style beers, porters, etc....meh. Even a blueberry wheat and cream ale. Some of you are reading this saying I'm crazy - I love this place and those types of beers! Well, I say, that's why some of you will go here and I'll head over to Steel Toe :) The have food and plenty of parking.
(3)Jennifer S.
Although the waiting line to sample Sweet Science's Ice Cream was way too long for my (and my friend's) patience, I did really enjoy my time spent absorbing the atmosphere of the place while sitting at a table inside, sipping a Kolsch-style beer and nibbling on some Nachos while catching up with my friend. It feels like such a great space - welcoming, friendly, scenic. BIG BONUS - NO BIG SCREEN T.V.s and their accompanying noise!!! We had really great service from everyone who attended to us (and it was more than 3 people). My beer was good; so were the nachos. They have a patio with many tables set up for the taking. I shall look forward to returning to this place to hang-out some more.

I have to say the beer was good, the setting was good, the wait staff was also good. The food did not do that much for me. 6 ounce burger patty is fine by me but medium well as the only option? Your website states 'pink or no pink', kind of misleading if I do say so. I am sorry, I ordered it. Too dry, and I could not taste the cheddar, or the bacon I added to it. Come on, you have some of the best burgers in town to emulate, and this is what you can come up with? Fries? Really? Some sort of coated fries, again, this town has many excellent examples of really good fries, why would you go with a coated fry? I think the tater tots were better than the fries, at least they were just potatoes. My girl had better things to say about the Italian sandwich that came with mozzarella and a balsamic glaze and she added the turkey to it. She liked it, I didn't get a taste of it. I really like all the tap rooms opening up around town but you have to compete on the food as well. It has to be really good to keep people coming back, there are just too many options for people to pick from, people will go to where the BEER and the FOOD is really good.
(3)Rhonda G.
I thought she had no personality. It seems she was a little shy at first cause now she's a total party girl. Anyone who has the sense and good taste to host an ice cream tasting for Sweet Science has it together. The layout is different, I think. It was so damn packed for this event they were lined UP the staircase. Jennifer S. and I grabbed a seat inside. We had a great server. She fixed me up with a delicious iced tea. I had to walk by the kitchen on the way to the bathroom. I happen to see the most attractive, dressed up nachos. I immediately ordered them. Still no napkins, just ask for what you want. Even in this big crowd we weren't rushed and got plenty of attention. They have homemade lemonade as well. A fun hang out.

I've been hoping for a brewery UYE, and apparently my hope was granted. Many out of state friends had mentioned that Minnesota has some awesome breweries. What do Minnesotans spend their time during the cold winter months? Some go snowmobiling, ice fishing.. BUT...some brew beers. Can't say I'm a beer connoisseur. I only like beers that don't make me make ugly face while drinking it. I stay away from IPAs though seem like it's cool if you like your IPAs. That type of beer made me look uglier than when I was infected by cholera in third world countries. It's so bitter and it lasts and lasts, not my cup of beer. Urban Growler had two beers that suit my beer palette. The Cranberry Ale is a perfect yummy pretty beer suitable for girly girl like me. It's light tasting and didn't taste like beer. That was the most awesome part, plus, it's just good!! The Cow Bell Cream Ale was also delicious! Never thought I'd use the word delicious for beer but it was. It really captured the name as it was so creamy and made me want to go ask for more cow bells. This UYE had a great turn-out and was great to see everyone. Some of my fave Yelpers were in attendance and was so much fun to just talk, curse freely, laugh out loud literally not LOL, and getting a little drunk. It didn't take much for me to get shit red faced from a couple glasses of sissy ass delicious girly beers. Hell yeah!! Proud of it! Fun Sunday for us Yelpers courtesy of John O, our UYE organizer. It was a great choice as this place not only brews great beers, but it also serves decent food. I can't speak on the food as I didn't have any; but, Cindy D and Jessica S said the cuban sandwich rocked. It's also cool that women own this place and I do need more women to brew beers I can enjoy drinking. Thanks, ladies. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to try more Minnesota's breweries with my Yelpamies. Just crazy fun night! Plus, instead of getting addicted to alcohol, I got addicted to crack - Trivia Crack. Thanks Jessica A!! Who's the 19th President of The United States? Rutherford B. Hayes. I challenge you to a game. I may lose but I know my presidents even after consuming a growler of ale made with America's pilgrim berries. I have spent most of my waking hours playing Trivia Crack, and frankly I haven't gotten enough sleep. It was the first thing I do when I wake up and last when I close my eyes. My life has never been the same since John O's UYE at Urban Growler. Life changing, indeed.

I have no contest with the beers. I've had many great beers here, perfectly serviceable. My diminished review comes from last night's risible occasion. An out-of-state friend, one of my longest-standing friendships, visited me and I wanted to show off some local highlights. Urban Growler is near where I work, so he picked me up and we headed over. The girl at the door asked us whether we wanted to sit inside or outside. We opted for the latter, and she said we could find our own seat. But all the outdoor seating was occupied or reserved, so we went back to the girl at the door and said we'd take indoor seating. She said we could find our own seat. Why did she care whether we were sitting inside or outside if the answer is the same? What exactly is she doing there? Is she being paid for something? We had a great server, well-spoken and alert. She forgot the water we asked for, but we just stayed for one beer and a shared bowl of tater tots and took off. That's a basket of tater tots that come with ranch dressing and I think blue cheese sauce for dipping. The blue cheese sauce was chunky but lacked the tang of cultivated mold, so I guess I'm not sure what it really was. And then about two hours later I was lying on my futon, breathing carefully, while my friend succumbed to vomiting. I recovered sooner, because of my ostensible "iron gut," but he was violently ill for the next five hours. We didn't go for brunch this morning, as I write this, because he anticipated not being in a state to eat anything for most of the day. My wife called Urban Growler just to give them a heads-up that we'd gotten ill from their food. They told her, "I'm so sorry!" and that was the end of the conversation. No investigation, no escalation to management, just some random employee regretting hearing about that and ending the call. I'm not gonna say this is an irresponsibly run business. I'm just stating that last night was an embarrassing display, and Urban Growler is no longer on my list of businesses to frequent, much less show off to anyone I'd like to impress.

Looking for a last minute brewery on a birthday and Urban Growler met all of our needs. The location is a bit sketchy at night but once you arrive you'll completely forget the drive there. The atmosphere is great, we went on a Saturday night so it was busy and almost every table was full. They have a good selection of beers and a good selection of food. Neither menus will have you confused as they have just the right amount of selection.
(4)Seth L.
Really good carnitas tacos and the beer isn't bad either. I'm currently drinking the Graffiti IPA which is one of my favorite IPAs in town.
(4)John O.
As good as it gets! Dope craft beers and friendly staff. Nice tune selection. I think I found my favorite brewery in the Twin Cities. It certainly doesn't hurt that UG is just a couple minutes drive from my office. Like many of the other breweries in the Twin Cities, it is in an off the beaten path industrial location. You have to go looking for it as you would never think to drive into the area that it is in. I've had the City Day Ale, Graffiti IPA and Smoked Chipotle Porter. All are fantastic! I'm not a huge dark beer drinker, but the Chipotle Porter is making me a convert. They had a firkin beer made with honey that the bartender let us sample yesterday. This was not for my palate - tasted like medicine to me. Stopped in yesterday afternoon with a co-worker about 3PM. Fairly crowded for early in the day. They open at noon on Fridays and Saturdays. Unlike any of the other taprooms sprouting up all over the place, UG has their own food menu. It is pretty limited, but I would definitely recommend the Cuban sandwich. Not the best I have ever had, but pretty darn good. Yesterday, I got the Italian sandwich. Probably should have read the menu description a little more carefully. I was thinking meats like salami, capicola, etc. It was a fufu mozarella sandwich. Probably great for the ladies; just OK for me. You can get it with turkey for an extra two bucks. The bartenders have all been really friendly and willing to chat. Also met one of the two owners the first time I was here. Really nice lady. I don't know who chooses the tunes here, but I think they might have stolen my CD collection. They have been spinning Wilco, Son Volt, Ryan Adams and Modest Mouse every time that I have been here. Yesterday, they played a Weakerthans tune while I was there. I didn't think anyone outside of Manitoba and me listened to the Weakerthans. Kudos, Urban Growler, kudos.

My thanks to Jill Pavlak, owner, who gains my respectI. It is a very nice spot with a full bar and food. Very nice owners
(1)Diana M.
Came here on a Friday night with husband and his cousin. I'm not much for the beer but I ordered the bistro turkey sandwich. it was really good and a good portion for the price. The men liked their beer of course. The place is loud and crowded and service was sort of slow but they were quite busy of course on Friday at 8pm. If you like local beer I say give this place a shot.
(3)Caitlyn M.
Would be a four but the food quality leaves something to be desired. Needs great food to match great beer.
(3)Ross J.
A great new place with wonderful beers, food and THE friendliest environment one could imagine. Absolutely perfect for happy hours and a place to hunker down for an hour or two.

After getting soaked at the State Fair we were looking for a place to grab some food and find a craft beer. This place had amazing food and we were told that they will be expanding their menu soon. I will be back soon for that! The beer is amazing! One of the better new breweries in town. The space they have is very cool and parking was easy. A friend took the train and said it was only about 5 minutes from the stop. Very easy to get to and an amazing place. I will be back many times and very soon!

Urban Growler is a nice large taproom. But wait, is it really a taproom or more of a brewpub, because they sell food? Or is it classified as a restaurant like Granite city? Needless to say I was a bit confused on what to call this place, but hey, let's start with the beer! Having never been here and being a self proclaimed beer snob, I ordered the flight. 6 brews that come on a unique flight board. They had the variety to pick from. They had a Porter, IPA, Amber, Wit and Cream ale. All of them were delicious. Urban Growler knows how ot brew beer. There is no questioning that. The one that was growler worthy however was the Rhubarb Wit. It had a light hint of rhubarb and almost had a strawberry flavor to it. It was refreshing and I took some home with me. So they also sell food here. It's nice to have a taproom where there is food on site (other than a food truck). So be it, the menu is not long, but they heve enough to sober you up, if you need that. I ended up ordering the chips with pico de gallo. It was a good helping of chips and the pico was extremely fresh. I was very impressed with it. As I wsa leaving the place, I passed right by Bang Brewing. I was surprised at how close these two were! I wonder if there's a little friendly competition going on, or if there will be collaboration brews in the future! In summary, get a pint of the rhubarab wit and try some food. Cheers!

There are really some good tap rooms opening up in Saint Paul. Both this place and Tin Whiskers are two of my favorite tap rooms. It is a little difficult to find, mixed amongst the old warehouses in the Midway. (Just take Vandailla north until you hit a dead end, and then turn left. It is right next door to Bang brewery, so you get a nice one-two punch. Although Bang is only open on Friday and Saturday, and has pretty limited seating. First, they appear to have an awesome patio, which I have not been able to enjoy yet, because this winter has been absolutely brutal, but come spring, I can't wait to check it out. Second, they have several varieties of regular beers, all of which are pretty tasty. As tap rooms go, their beer is more of the easy drinking variety, or session style. Then they also have some seasonal beers that tend to be very unique. They usually have a fruit infused beer that is always interesting if you wan to try something new and different, but I like their flagship beers. Also, one huge bonus that really sets them apart from other tap rooms is that they have a kitchen. The menu is pretty limited, I think I recall a Cubano sandwich and tacos. I would not come here just for the food, but it is ok, and they get points for being one of the only tap rooms to offer their own menu.
(5)Gretchen B.
I've been meaning to come here because it was opened by WOMEN! Hooray! I wasn't expecting a brewpub when I got here, but I was so grateful to see that they served food as this was my third and last stop on a mini brewery tour with my mom. We ordered their flight, and we liked all the beers. I wasn't crazy for any of them, but they weren't bad. All their beers seemed to be very seasonal, but lighter, fruity beers are more my taste so I'll have to come back in the summer to see what they're rotating! Compared to the taprooms in Northeast Minneapolis, this place was pretty quiet, but they have a great big patio and table service. We only got the spinach artichoke dip, which was good, but I'd like to see them work on their menu a bit.
(3)Latha P.
Hip hangout brewery! Beer selection is great. Cow bell cream ale is light refreshing and perfect for summer. Being local brews it does have a higher alcohol content so go easy when you double up. Bar Snacks are good. Nuts , pita chips with hummus were nice picks but Fries/ tots basket was truly the best with ranch and blue cheese dip. Great weekend spot to catch up with friends.
(4)E Z.
Jill and company are amazing!! We had a surprise birthday party there and everything from planning to execution was top notch. Super easy communication through the planning stage and even the day of were amazing. No hiccups. On the way home our group of party planners all said 100% we would hold another event there. Thank you!!
(5)Joshua S.
Cool and unique venue, great beer selection, good food. What else could you ask for out of a microbrewery? Oh, great service? Covered in spades; highly recommended.
(5)Cecelia R.
This is one of my favorite taprooms in the Twin Cites. The dog friendly patio is fantastic, the menu is small but well thought out, street parking is ample, and everyone is super friendly. The beers are all really good, and I love that alot of their ingredients are locally sourced. They also do fun variations. Recently they had a Berliner Weisse which you could get as a trio of small pours, one in its original form, and two with sweet berry infusions. Food is great, I highly recommend the Carnitas Tacos. Yum. Added bonus, Bang is literally about 50 feet away, so you can easily do both in one trip.
(5)Marty B.
Small, yet excellent selection of local craft beers on tap and a delectable menu of entrees and bar snacks made to pair with the beer of your choice.
(4)Marilyn C.
This place is amazing! A brewery owned by two ladies is my sort of establishment. Super friendly, spacious, nice, and welcoming. If I was a local you would find me here on the regular. Tried several of the beers and as a hard core beer snob who has traveled the country sampling suds I can tell you if you like GOOD beer then you will be happy you stopped by. They serve a tasty sampling of food too (more than just pub fair...salads, sammys, and more). The tour is not to be missed. Flights avail for those who like to sample it up. Plenty of seating outside and inside (thank god, it was cold as hell outside...this Texas girl needs her external heat source!!). I love me some Urban Growler!!
(5)Robyn K.
Stopped in here off our bikes for a snack and a pint. Staff was very friendly and pretty knowledgable about the beers even though they were being trained in on the POS still. Tried the beer sampler which gave us 4 brews to taste: Graffiti Rye IPA, Rhubarb Wit, City Day Ale, and the Cow bell cream ale. My favorite was definitely the Rhubarb Wit which offered an impressively light yet flavorful taste with notes of citrus and of course rhubarb without any bitterness. We also tried the spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious. They clearly have made it fresh as the huge chunks of artichokes did not disappoint and there was just the right amount of garlic. Ambiance is also nice. The space is extremely clean and has the beauty of the stainless steel and copper beer tuns with original brick. Nice sized patio as well which allows for groups to gather with ease. We are certainly tap room snobs, and we'll be visiting again. And a fun fact to boot- this place is women owned!
(5)Steve C.
This is great place to visit if you're looking for great craft beer and great food! We visited today during the Rails and Ales event. We we were not part of the event and were given excellent service. Our food order came out promptly and it was tasty! Fries and tots nice and crispy, Cubano, awesome! Beer was delicious, the exception was the Lemongrass Wheat, it was a little too much lemon for our taste but otherwise everything else was great. Stephanie did a great job serving us and we talked with the owners too! Great place, check it out!
(5)Susan G.
It was a perfect summer Tuesday evening and we wanted a patio with a couple drinks experience. Urban Growler did not disappoint. Tuesday night's special is two pints, two entrees and either the artichoke dip/chips app or a stout brownie for $30. Quite the deal. First the pints. The Midwest IPA was tasty. It won an award at the Fair a couple years back! And the Agave Ale was interesting. Not too sweet with a nice finish. You're able to try any tap before you order so there's no wasted beer. Next the food. We had the artichoke dip with the chips. Good but next time, will try the brownie. It was huge and served with ice cream.... The entrees are sandwiches with a choice of kettle chips or fresh veggies and ranch dressing to dip. The Rueben was pretty great as was the Rachel. The patio was nice with long picnic tables and individual tables, umbrellas to shade and plenty of room. Dogs are welcome outside and there's plenty of parking in the lot and on the street. It's a bit out of the way but we'll be back for the easy neighborhood vibe.

I first thought the seat yourself was neat.... Until we sat with no service for fifteen minutes...came here cause heard some good things about the kids menu. The kids menu was a joke. Finally figured we would get the quesadillas and split the between the two kids. We were trying no dairy with one of our kids so we asked for no cheese on half. The waitress looked at us like we were crazy and said "I don't know if we can do that, I think it's all or nothing" I looked at my wife and said "are you kidding me, just don't sprinkle cheese on half." While waiting for our food the waitress failed to come back to our table as I was dry and waiting for another beer. So I ended up just going to get myself another beer. Quesadillas came, no cheese on any of it an all they had on it was onions peppers an tomatoes. Are you kidding me? What kid is going to eat that. Not even any meat on them. For that and tots came to $8. As we looked around we saw two other tables either waiting on beer or their tab .... Just rolling their eyes. All in all... My food was good...my beer was good.. The atmosphere was good... The kids menu and service was HORRIBLE. Still trying to decide if I would go back or not... Too many other choices around to eat there again.

Great new brew house in an old unique space. The beer selection consists of about 8-10 different beers so there's something for every taste. Unlike some micro brew places they do have a small selection of appetizers and sandwiches. Suggestions would be to expand the food selection and also maybe put more signage if possible on the building. I approached this establishment from the west and saw the address on the building which is in an area dominated by large warehouses. I was pretty sure I'd found it but there was no signage. It was only when I drove to the far side of the building (east side) that I saw their sign. I will definitely be back to sample more of the beers in the near future.
(4)Joel S.
Oh, Urban Growler, you're like the girl that always has amazing first dates, but can never make it past the second. I heard someone complain while I was there, but figured it was someone being picky. Then I found myself in the same shoes as them. I sat down inside but not at the bar. After 10 minutes of waiting for someone bring a menu or ask what I'd like to drink I start looking around, I see a girl at an ordering computer texting away on her phone. Five minutes later she comes up and takes my drink order. I'm not sure how long went by until she brought the drink, she asked me if I wanted to order food and I mentioned yes, but not until the other person in my party gets here. After the other person in my party got there she walked by us three times, the third time making clear eye contact with me, but then trying to quickly look away, like I might not notice she's been ignoring us. Ouch. Why would I stay here when the place right behind you is run so SO much better? Well, we didn't.
(1)Sarah L.
What a great surprise in the middle of nowhere but on my wsy home! Loved the lemongrass ale and they had very reasonsbly priced, tastey apps. This will be the new happy hour spot!
(5)Kimberly H.
This place was so great! Great beer, great wait staff. Everyone was friendly, not pretentious at all. I would love to come back!
(5)Chad T.
Funny story how I stumbled upon Urban Growler - the one time I ever read our community newspaper, I saw an announcement that a new brewery was holding a fund raiser. Always eager to support local, women-owned businesses, my wife and I brought our then-newborn daughter (parents of the year, we know) by the tap room for some samples. These ladies know their beer! You can tell they put a lot of development time and TLC into their beer. The rhubarb beer has a unique taste, it's definitely my favorite. We stopped by last weekend and were very happy to see that the parking lot was full and the place was bustling. They encourage sharing tables, which gave us the opportunity to meet some really cool people. We ordered a flight of beers to share and then we each ordered a pint of our favorites. We didn't have food, but the food they were bringing out to other customers looked delicious. We live nearby, so we will definitely make Urban Growler one of our regular spots!
(5)Angelica Y.
Love the food. Love the beer. This place knocks it out of the park. Great atmosphere, super friendly people. I just wish it wasn't getting so busy there because I miss how quiet it was at first! (Though I'm very happy for them that the word is getting out, because they do a great job!)
(5)Keith M.
Had the sampler and my faves were: the unfiltered rhubarb was one-of-a-kind and the Belgian style really works with this one, the City Day which has a unique, vegetation flavor thanks to the mash, and the cow bell was a nice light refreshing beer which totally avoids being watery. I liked that the IPA wasn't overpowering like many tend to be. The others were fine, but not as memorable for me. Digging the Hampden Park area even more now that I can enjoy some good local beers there and in an unassuming light industrial setting. It's a quick bike ride south to Raymond Station.
(4)Kim N.
First, hooray for being open Sundays. Second, great open, industrial atmosphere with a patio. Third, Cheers to a female brewer! Now for the brews. Solid for styling. Hop heads won't be overly excited, though. Love the idea of the plow to pint series. Rhubarb wit was good, if you like the style. My favorite was the Kentucky Common.
(4)Kay R.
First time at this establishment and I will be going again. I liked the vibe of the place. Open, not too loud, casual. Let's start with the important things first. The beer. I tried two different ones and liked them both. They seem to have the usual beers that most brewpubs have. But also one or two that were a bit different. I like places that try making new things. The food was great as well. I had the pork tacos and it was wonderful. Not a fan of the buffalo chips, I like a plain chip but some people I was with liked them. The service was okay, but our server seemed to forget a few things. I asked for water and had to remind him. Had to ask for silverware as well. He seemed unsure of himself and a bit too timid. Maybe he was new. All in all a good choice and I will be returning to try more beer and some of the other item menus.

I took a Thursday afternoon to visit two new craft breweries in the cities. Second stop: Urban Growler on Endicott St. in St. Paul. The Taproom is a wonderful space: brick interior, small and large high tables, and a classy bar area. I ordered a flight, came with four samples. Two were ok, but a little hoppier or bitter than I like. The other two hit the mark: the cream ale (which the owners call a "lawnmower beer") was a crisp, delicious lager; and the Rhubarb Wit was one of the best wheat beers I've tasted - a wonderfully spicy mix of flavors that complemented the wheatiness in a way I would never have predicted. They serve food (a taproom luxury I appreciate) and my wife and I shared a bistro turkey sandwich (wonderful) with a side of fresh vegetables. The service was very quick and efficient. Brewery has a patio area too, as well as the indoor space. I predict they'll do great, especially when the U of M Ag. campus is back in session this fall.

This is a must-see for anyone visiting the twin cities! I had the pleasure of visiting the Urban Growler micro-brewery for the first time last night with friends. It was an awesome experience! I think the beer they craft is delicious and pairs well with their modest but tasty menu. The atmosphere is very upbeat, welcoming, relaxed, and both family and LGBTQ friendly. The reason for this became clear when I met the owners who embody that spirit. i also met the chef and even got a guided tour of the actual brewery. Their commitment to producing a quality locally sourced beer is evident in the pride they showed when talking about their products. Not just the owners, the servers also shared this enthusiasm. The brewery's back story should served as inspiration to anyone who has ever had a dream to go into business. I was so impressed after my visit to Urban Growler that I plan to return to the twin cities in the fall to taste their latest creations and their soon to expand menu. Speaking of their menu, I definitely recommend their carnitas. I had a truly wonderful time! Can't wait till I return. Oh yeah, drink responsibly!

We enjoyed a sunny fall afternoon out on the patio. Despite the unlikely location in the industrial zone, we were pleasantly surprised when we drove up to find an inviting patio and building. Nice gem tucked away in their urban spot. It was too nice to be inside so we did not spend time indoors, but the inside looked nice. Good beer. Nice food. Very friendly staff. The older building and RR tracks running through the patio are true to its urban location. Not far from the light rail. We will be showing this to our friends soon.
